WHAT IS A CUSTOM SPRAY TAN?
Tanning occurs when the skin produces pigment to protect itself from UV rays. In custom tanning, the tanning solution is applied by a technician using a compressor and a spray gun. The tanning solution contains an active ingredient, DHA, that reacts with the outer layer of skin, producing a bronzing effect. The maximum generation of color is reached within 8 to 12 hours, so the color will continue to darken after the initial application. Most of the added bronzer will come off in the first shower/bath after application. We recommend the client does not use her best white towels and favorite white sheets for at least 2 days after the spray tan application. Some bronzer may stain, but for the most part bronzer will wash off clothing and bedding.
WHAT RESULTS SHOULD I EXPECT?
When sprayed, the bronzer will produce an immediate coloration. The DHA tan should develop within 8 to 12 hours. After the bronzer is washed off, a beautiful natural tan should result in skin coloration that is 1 to 2 shades darker. Multiple applications will produce deeper color. It must be emphasized that the pigments resulting from a spray tan DOES NOT provide UV protection, but may minimize burning.
HOW SOON CAN I SHOWER AFTER A CUSTOM TAN?
For best results allow at least 8 to 12 hours after your tanning session before showering. How do I maintain my custom tan? Apply moisturizer morning and evening after your first post-tan shower. Moisturize daily thereafter. Hydrated skin is essential in maintaining a longer lasting tan.
HOW LONG WILL THE TAN LAST?
7 to 10 days depending on how well the client moisturizes at home. Do not use an exfoliator scrub until you feel its time to take off the old tan. We also recommend professional scrub treatments in between sprays to renew your skin and get the maximum benefits of our spray tan.

IS SUNLESS TANNING SAFE?
YES. The FDA approved Dihydroxyacetone (DHA), a sugar cane derivative that results in the tan, for safety, in 1973. When applied to the skin, DHA penetrates only the top layer of skin- it does not absorb into the body or bloodstream.
DO YOUR PRODUCTS CONTAIN ERYTHRULOSE?
NO. The only FDA approved ingredient for sunless tanning is DHA. No other skin colorants, including erythrulose have been approved by the FDA for sunless tanning, therefore we do not and will not use erythrulose in our products.
DO YOUR PRODUCTS CONTAIN ALCOHOL?
NO. Alcohol is very drying to the skin and can cause irritation. Furthermore, alcohol intensifies degradation of DHA and thus shortens the shelf life of the product.
DO YOUR PRODUCTS CONTAIN FRAGRANCES?
NO. Our sunless tanning solution is designed specifically for people with hypersensitive skin. Not only can these fragrances be very unpleasant, but also, many salons that have male clients appreciate our fragrance-free solution.
WILL I EXPERIENCE ALLERGIC REACTIONS OR ACNE WITH YOUR PRODUCTS?
Our sunless solution is hypo-allergenic, oil, alcohol and fragrance-free designed specifically for hypersensitive skin.
WILL YOUR PRODUCTS STAIN CLOTHING OR BED SHEETS?
We generally recommend our clients wear garments that are loose fitting and dark in color after a treatment. If any color does get transferred to material, it can be easily washed in a normal cycle and should not stain
HOW DO I EXTEND MY SUNLESS TAN?
Clients often ask how to extend their sunless tan beyond the customary 5-7 days. As some of you know, sunless tanning treatments only affect the top layer of skin, which naturally “sloughs off” each day. The best way to slow this natural exfoliation is to follow these tips:
1. Moisturize twice daily for at least 10 days after treatment. Don’t stop moisturizing just because the tan fades.
2. Avoid heavy sweating, hot tubs, Jacuzzis, massages or other activities that make your skin exfoliate rapidly.
3. Use Spray di Sole’s Tan Extender, which contains a low level of DHA (sunless tanning ingredient) that will give your tan a boost that should last up to 10 days.
